Full Yoga Class live from Jones Point Lighthouse, DCRoom: The Auditorium This class is a balance of effort and ease. Participants will work to
strengthen and lengthen muscles during an alignment-oriented asana practice and
then unwind with a guided relaxation meditation. During the class, participants
will breathe into tight areas encouraging relaxation while also holding poses
to build strength. A fluid, dynamic practice that consciously links movement
with breath. Focus is on centering, flexibility, strength and balance. Expect a
sequence that includes sun salutations, standing postures, twists, balances,
and heart openers. After generating this warmth, we will round out the practice
with forward folds, hip openers, and more restorative holds. The guided
meditation will reawaken the internal and external experiences of the present
moment through practices that cultivate awareness, self-regulation, and the
capacity for presence. Participants will practice the ability to fully notice our
surroundings and our relationship to them. All levels are welcome.
The class
will be live from D.C.’s first building block: Jones Point Lighthouse. In 1791,
surveyors on Jones Point began to lay out the ten-mile square that would become
Washington, D.C. The first marker for the survey – the south cornerstone – was
set in place on this spot and is among the oldest existing physical monuments
associated with the city surviving today. https://usps.zoomgov.com/j/16102062686?pwd=ngnpzvhlnjy2zvc0b1rnt3i4btv5qt09
